Who we are

Koa is an athletic health company that helps women restore their hormone health and break the cycles of burnout.

Our Founder and CEO is Allison Yamamoto, a former NCAA cheerleader, sports nutritionist, and fitness instructor. Allison spent years struggling with REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) that affected her professional, athletic, and personal life. She successfully restored her athletic health by focusing on evidence-based, peer-reviewed research that focused on women’s unique physiology and health outcomes. She founded Koa to help other active women fix the root causes of hormonal disruption, overtraining, and burnout.

What sets Koa apart is our clinical collaborators—a highly experienced panel of trained clinicians specializing in female athletes across a range of disciplines: reproductive endocrinology, sports medicine, registered dietetics, psychiatry, and women’s health. Our clinicians helped build our signature interdisciplinary program backed by over 50 peer-reviewed studies and shaped by lived experience—meaning that we don’t just know the science, we know how to make it work.

At Koa, we’re here to change the conversation—and the outcomes—for athletic women everywhere.
